LINK-UP | IT’S MONDAY! WHAT ARE YOU READING?

Another busy week of ups and downs. I’ve got another lung infection, which I’m trying to keep in check without more antibiotics as I’m worried about how often I take them and the effect that has on my body and their effectiveness. It’s unpleasant but not getting worse, so I’m really hoping I’ll start seeing some slow improvement this week. Fingers crossed! I’ve gotten some garden tasks done, which is always rewarding, and got a couple of errands done. My kid and I also visited the library which is always a weekly highlight for my kid and I because we’ve got such wonderful librarians and it’s such a great place to visit. Summer is always a bit of a tough time in some ways, because as nice as it is to have less time pressure and more time for doing what we feel like, but I think we also find it a bit stressful because routine is important. Swings and roundabouts, like the rest of life, I suppose! At least we have both been reading, and that’s always good.

Just Shelved

We’ve Got This by Eliza Hull, ed.
The Hidden Witch  (Witch Boy 2) by Molly Knox Ostertag
The Midwinter Witch (Witch Boy 3) by Molly Knox Ostertag

The Dark Secret (Graphic Novel #4) by Tui T. Sutherland
What You Are Looking For Is in the Library by Michiko Aoyama (translated by Alison Watts)

It’s been a pretty good reading week, I finally got to a few of the graphic novels I’ve had waiting for ages, and enjoyed all three of them. And I finished We’ve Got This which was amazing and brilliant. I decided to listen to What You Are Looking For Is in the Library on a whim (it’s been in my TBR for ages and I keep nearly reading it but not quite) and I’m glad, because it’s exactly the vibe I wanted – comforting, calm, and uplifting.

Currently Reading

The Japanese Lover by Isabel Allende
Grounding by Lulah Ellender
The Running Hare by John Lewis-Stempel
See Me Rolling by Lottie Jackson

Days at the Morisaki Bookshop by Satoshi Yagisawa (translated by Eric Ozawa)
A Year in the Woods by Torbjørn Ekelund

I’ve still got a few others on the go – three new ones I just started: See Me Rolling, Days at the Morisaki Bookshop and A Year in the Woods. See Me Rolling I picked up after finishing We’ve Got This as it’s a disability memoir, and Days at the Morisaki Bookshop is another from my TBR that I went to after finishing What You Are Looking For Is in the Library. All very good so far!

Up Next

Some of Us Just Fall by Polly Atkin
And I Shall Have Some Peace There by Margaret Roach
Better by Arianna Rebolini
Garden to Save the World by Joe Clark

Fox & I by Catherine Raven
You’ll Grow Out of It by Jessi Klein
A Vintage Friendship by Cathy Hopkins
Ordinary Time by Annie B. Jones

Added a few more to my TBR this week thanks to some browsing of Libby and a trip to the library! I’m also very excited because I’ve discovered that they still have inter-library loans, so I can try that next time I can’t find a copy of a book I want to read in my district library system. I’m making use of it for a couple of books my kid wants to read – why they have books 1, 2, 3 and 6 but not 4 or 5 of a kids’ series I will never understand!

So that was my week in books! Have you had a good reading week? Any great books you are excited to share? Have you read any of these?

A weekly post that encourages bloggers to share what they have read in the past week, what they’re currently reading and books they’ve recently added to their TBRs. Originally started by Sheila at Book Journey, it is now hosted by Kathryn at The Book Date. I also link up with The Sunday Salon post each week hosted by Deb at Readerbuzz (and sometimes include some of her content prompts).

Oh, I really like the sound of A Year in the Woods. I’ve bookmarked it at the library, and maybe I will request it as soon as Paris in July is over.

I visited a beautiful library while I was up in Paris, Texas last week. I told the librarian that I hoped her patrons realized what a treasure they had.

Oh no! I am sorry to hear that you are not feeling well!!! I hope that you feel better soon.

You have so many good books listed! I love John Lewis-Stempel. A Year in the Woods sounds awesome, and so does Grounding. I have Fox and I on my shelf, I need to finish it. Maybe this fall.

Thanks – nothing major, but I hope so too! I haven’t read a Lewis-Stempel yet, but definitely on my list. I’m taking my time with Grounding – I like just reading a few pages and keeping it going. Yes, Fox & I is probably going to wait a little while for me as well!

Hope you are feeling better soon. Nice that you were able to get into the garden. Mine has been ignored for the last couple of weeks. Ostertag’s books look good. A Year in the Woods also caught my eye. Enjoy!
