LINK-UP | IT’S MONDAY! WHAT ARE YOU READING?

Well, it has been another busy week! A good one though, as my aunt and uncle were visiting from the UK and we got to spend a couple of days with them. I haven’t seen them in years, and they’d never met my kiddo, so it was really nice to be able to connect them. Of course my reading was done via audiobooks in the car and otherwise put to one side until Sunday, but I still managed to finish a few!

Just Shelved

Long Island by Colm Tóibín
Best Friends Forever! by Amy Shields
Rascally Rabbits! by Aline Alexander Newman
Adventure Cat! by Kathleen Weidner Zoehfeld

I was reading Shy Creatures, but then my hold for Long Island came in at the library, so I decided to wait on that and read this first. I haven’t read Brooklyn, so I went into this blind. I can’t tell you what I thought of it for another month, but when I do it’ll be based just on this without having read the first book in the series. The other three are books my kid and I listened to together, and it was really interesting to learn about the different animals and their stories, and giggle at some of the silly antics they got up to!

Currently Reading

Brit(ish) by Afua Hirsch
Wildful by Kengo Kurimoto
The Lie of the Land by Amanda Craig

Raising Hare by Chloe Dalton
Shy Creatures by Clare Chambers
The Twat Files by Dawn French

This is almost the same as last week because I swerved to read Long Island. But I’ll be moving on with Shy Creatures next, and still listening to Dawn French in the car!

Up Next

Sipsworth by Simon van Booy

This will be the last of my BookTube Prize reading, so once I’ve finished Shy Creatures this will be my final read! I haven’t really thought about what I’ll read after I’m done with these, so I don’t have more of a TBR to share this week!

So that was my week in reading! Better than I expected as I did read a book and a half.

A weekly post that encourages bloggers to share what they have read in the past week, what they’re currently reading and books they’ve recently added to their TBRs. Originally started by Sheila at Book Journey, it is now hosted by Kathryn at The Book Date. I also link up with The Sunday Salon post each week hosted by Deb at Readerbuzz (and sometimes include some of her content prompts).

Sometimes I think I like kid nonfiction better than adult nonfiction. Maybe it’s just because I’m a simple person.

I do hope you will report back on Raising Hare. It’s one of those books that has been around and I’m curious about.

I like how readable and snappy it is. I like depth too, but sometimes it gets a bit bogged down. This is designed to grab interest and keep it! I’ve now read Raising Hare and it’s beautiful. I love how it’s about raising a leveret…. but also ties into so many other issues as well. Definitely recommend, and I think you’d like it!

Sounds like a nice family visit. We had one, too, with our older son. I haven’t yet read Brooklyn or Long Island, but I’ve heard great things about them both. Sipsworth is a wonderful novel – warm, funny, and uplifting. Hope you enjoy it.

It was lovely. I hope yours was as well! I haven’t read Brooklyn either – I’ve only read one Toibin book so until now. I’m still uncertain how I feel about his work! I’m looking forward to Sipsworth thanks to your recommendations!
