LINK-UP | IT’S MONDAY! WHAT ARE YOU READING?

It’s been a busy week, but mostly a good one! We’ve gotten out into the garden a bit and it’s looking slightly more tidy. We had a new tenant move into our downstairs suite, and met the two dogs who will be living there, which was lovely. I finished a few books. I got a COVID vaccine which has hit me hard and I’ve spent the last 24 hours feeling sore, achy, tired and nauseous. But I also put together the yearly Easter scavenger hunt for my kiddo, complete with challenges and riddles, which was a lot of fun and then had Easter dinner with the in-laws which was also nice. So it’s been mostly a really good week! Happy (or hoppy) Easter to those who celebrate it!

Just Shelved

I’ll Just Be Five More Minutes by Emily Farris
Behind You Is the Sea by Susan Muaddi Darraj
Gabriel’s Moon by William Boyd

I finished two books this week for the BookTube Prize that I can’t say anything about, but I also finished listening to I’ll Just Be Five More Minutes as well. I enjoyed it, and related to some of her experiences. Mostly the way first time motherhood impacted her. It wasn’t the best ADHD memoir I’ve read, but it was good and I enjoyed listening to it!

Currently Reading

Brit(ish) by Afua Hirsch
Wildful by Kengo Kurimoto
The Lie of the Land by Amanda Craig

Raising Hare by Chloe Dalton
Shy Creatures by Clare Chambers

Still have all of these on the go, but didn’t make much progress with most of them this week. I did just start Shy Creatures as my next BookTube Prize book! Not very far into it yet so have no opinions, and couldn’t tell you even if I did!

Up Next

Long Island by Colm Tóibín
Sipsworth by Simon van Booy

I’m halfway through my BookTube Prize reading, so it’s just these two left that I haven’t started yet! I still have a couple of weeks to wait for Long Island from my library, so while I was planning to read it first and save Sipsworth for last, I might have to swap the two if it doesn’t come in soon!

That was my week! What did you guys read this week? Have you read any of these books, and if so what did you think?

A weekly post that encourages bloggers to share what they have read in the past week, what they’re currently reading and books they’ve recently added to their TBRs. Originally started by Sheila at Book Journey, it is now hosted by Kathryn at The Book Date. I also link up with The Sunday Salon post each week hosted by Deb at Readerbuzz (and sometimes include some of her content prompts).

An Easter scavenger hunt! That sounds so fun! Great idea 🙂 I used to create treasure hunts with clues for my sons’ birthday parties, and the kids always loved them. Sorry you are feeling rough, but it’s great that you can get the vaccines. I can’t and am immune compromised, so I still have to mask everywhere, which is a pain. Hope you are feeling better soon! Sipsworth is wonderful.

I started doing it during lockdown when we couldn’t do regular hunts, but then it was so much fun that we kept it going. I like that it’s a bit more of a challenge and takes more effort. I’m so sorry you’re not able to get the vaccines. That is a tough spot, particularly when you’re immunocompromised as well. I still wear masks everywhere as well, even with the vaccines, because my lungs just don’t do well with respiratory infections. I had to take antibiotics multiple times last year because a simple cold that caused sniffles in those around me lasted weeks and became a lung infection. It’s just not worth the risk. You’re not alone, though I’m not sure if that’s much of a comfort!
