WEDNESDAY BLOGGING CHALLENGE | GAMES I LIKE

I like a bunch of different games, mostly the ones I can play with my family. Most often we play Uno and Skip-Bo, but we have also recently discovered Trash Pandas and Unstable Unicorns for Kids. There are also a lot of board games we like. Older ones like Snakes and Ladders and Guess Who? are popular, along with some newer ones like Outfoxed. And we are getting into learning traditional card games that we played as kids – so far we’ve got Go Fish, Snap, War, Crazy Eights and Solitaire.

My Mum has gotten a few great ones for us as well – Scrabble Junior and Dragonology have been great hits, and she and my kid have come up with their own versions with rules they’ve made up for both of them (though this does mean that they’re only able to be played when she’s here!). I love playing games – particularly ones that move quickly and keep things interesting and exciting. I’m not so big on ones that are more passive or take more time. I remember interminable games of Chess with my Dad as a kid – I swear he took a minimum of five minutes to consider every move, and though I didn’t know it at the time, ADHD made this a nearly painful experience for me! (Sorry Dad, but it’s true!) So I’ve not played it since. Maybe one day I’ll try to resolve that particular childhood trauma and try again… I do think I’d prefer it if Wizard’s Chess were a real thing! That would be exciting!

What about you guys? Do you like playing games? For those who are around my age, do you still play games you enjoyed as a kid or have you found new ones that you prefer? Are any of my favourites on your list?
