TOP TEN TUESDAY | SUMMER 2025 TBR

As you all know, I’ve been on a major nature kick lately. I’m back in the garden, and in addition to being interested in learning about plants to grow, I’m also watching the insects, birds and other creatures that are visiting it. And I’m fascinated by what they’re doing, and why. So there are a lot of nature books I’d like to read soon! But I’ll try to add in a few others for variety.

Some nature and gardening books I have shared before but still want to read this summer:

Skymeadow by Charlie Hart
Grounding by Lulah Ellender
In Kiltumper by Niall Williams and Christine Breen
The Light Eaters by Zoë Schlanger

A Wilder Way by Poppy Okotcha
Peatlands by Alys Fowler
Why Women Grow by Alice Vincent

I shared these on a post about nature and gardening a few weeks ago, but for good reason, and they’re still on the top of my TBR!

A few I haven’t  shared before (I don’t think):

Good Nature by Kathy WIllis
Losing Eden by Lucy Jones
Night Magic by Leigh Ann Henion

These are ones I’ve found since that post and added to my ever-growing gardening TBR (pun intended). They all look very interesting!

Some other books I might read soon:

Iona Iverson’s Rules for Commuting by Clare Pooley
Famous Last Words by Gillian McAllister
My Name Is Emilia del Valle by Isabel Allende
I Cannot Control Everything Forever by Emily C. Bloom

I’ve read books by the first three authors on this list before and enjoyed them – Isabel Allende in particular is a favourite of mine, though I’m very behind on reading her newer books. I want to read this one that just came out, but I might also read some of her older books I haven’t read yet first. Either way, she’s on my summer TBR. The fourth is a bit of a random pick as it’s one I randomly came across while scrolling through books somewhere, but it’s one I might try.

Of course, as always, I probably won’t get to a large proportion of these this summer because I’m impulsive and pick up whatever is shiny when I’m looking for a new book, so who knows if these will be it. But they’re definitely contenders right now!

What about you guys? Which books are on your summer TBR? Have you read any of these? Any of you gardeners or nature lovers, and if so, which are your favourite books on those subjects?

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly link-up feature created by The Broke and the Bookish and hosted by Jana at That Artsy Reader Girl. Every week TTT has a different topic, and everyone who links up has to create a link of ten items that fit that topic. To see past and upcoming topics, go here.

I’m not very good with plants, but I do have some growing right now! I also have a little yellow sac spider making his home a tomato plant right now. Hahaha. Will have to check out some of these books, I need all the help I can get.

Here is our Top Ten Tuesday. Thank you!

I love that! Does your spider have a name? Mine are usually called Fred or George, but occasionally if there are a lot of them I’ll branch out into a Tom or a Gertrude! Lol
I enjoy watching Gardeners’ World, it’s got tips, but also just soothing to watch. But there are so many great YouTube channels and podcasts, and libraries are brimming with all kinds of gardening books! I think, though, that the best thing is just to grow stuff. Some will succeed, some won’t, and in researching what went wrong, you’ll figure out things like light and watering and soil… it’s just trial and error, I think! Also some of the “rules” are just opinions, and what works in one garden won’t work in another. I wish you all the luck with your gardening, and I hope you (and little Fred/Gertrude) enjoy your tomatoes!

Yes, I’ve started Light Eaters, and even the small amount I listened to left me with things to think about that I’ve since talked to my husband and kid about! I am having trouble sticking with books at the moment – times of change always leave me a bit scattered – but I plan to go back to it and know I’ll get a lot from it!
