BOOK BLOGGER HOP | MY FAVE RE-READS

This week’s prompt: What are some of your favorite books to re-read?

I didn’t used to re-read books very often, because there are so many new ones I want to get to. But in the past couple of years I did start allowing myself the opportunity to re-visit some of my favourites, and it has turned out to be a wonderful experience. Here are some of them:

To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee
The House in the Cerulean Sea by TJ Klune
Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir
In a Sunburned Country by Bill Bryson

I listened to these as audiobooks, which in some cases was different to the original print versions I’d experienced the first time around. But all of these I enjoyed – the only one I didn’t enjoy quite as much as the first time was In a Sunburned Country. I’m not sure why, I think maybe it just didn’t feel as excitingly unexpected because I’m now very familiar with Bryson’s writing style. It was still enjoyable though, so no complaints. To Kill a Mockingbird was excellent and I loved that reading it as an adult I was able to relate to it in a completely different way, but the experience was still just as rich. Highly recommend.

What about you guys? Do you re-read books often? If so, how do you choose which to re-read? Is it generally a good experience or have you found some of them disappointing?

The Book Blogger Hop is a weekly blog link-up that gives participants a different book-related question to ponder each week, and allows them to share their thoughts, find new blogs to follow and connect with new readers. The Hop was originally created by Jennifer at Crazy for Books and is now hosted by Billy at Ramblings of a Coffee Addicted Writer. To see a list of upcoming prompts go here.
