Hello all! Just a quick post today, in case anyone has noticed the crickets happening over here on Rain City Reads. First of all, apologies to everyone who has sent through lovely comments that are still in my approval queue. I’m starting to go back through them and approve/reply (some are just going to be approved without reply as it’s been a while for some of them), but there are like 400 spam comments and I’ve just been, quite frankly, procrastinating dealing with that mess. But I’m working on it.
I am not sure if you’ve noticed, but this hasn’t been a very busy place lately. I have been trying to pop in and quickly post occasional link-up posts, but I haven’t got any pre-written book reviews and I haven’t had much to report for my Monday posts, so I just haven’t been writing them. Everything is fine, in terms of lack of major life events. No big drama or horrible events, and everyone is fine. But my brain seems to have decided it’s just had quite enough of braining, thank you very much. I think it’s a combo of school starting and all the related organising, having to drive 3 hours a day again, and the weather changing into autumn with the dark and the rain and the grey. I’m just tired, all the time, every moment of every day. I’m hoping I’ll get back to normal soon – I’ve been waiting, thinking hopefully by next week I’ll be able to handle life without a nap again – but so far it hasn’t happened.
At any rate, all that to say I’m not on a full on blogging break, there are still sporadic posts coming out, and when they’re link-ups I’m linking them (mostly), I’m just not doing all of them each week. And I’m not writing reviews because 1) I don’t have the mental capacity to think rational thoughts and put them into words on the screen, and 2) I would need to be reading books in order to write about them. At some point I’ll just sidle back into more regular blogging, but I don’t know when that will happen, and I don’t want to feel like I have to do it because then I just won’t. So I just wanted to pop in to let anyone still reading this blog know that I’m fine, just a bit burned out, overwhelmed and tired, so instead of working on blog posts I’m likely either binge watching Slow Horses or taking a nap.
I hope you guys are all doing alright, that your transition between seasons has been smoother than my own (whichever direction your seasons are going), and that you’re all finding some wonderful books to read! Thanks for your patience!
