LINK-UP | IT’S MONDAY! WHAT ARE YOU READING?

It has been quite the couple of weeks, and I’m sorry to say, I’ve been neglecting my blog horrendously (to the tune of 426 comments, more than 400 of them spam…. yikes! If you’ve commented and it’s been stuck in the queue, my apologies, I am going to work on catching up with them this week!) because I just haven’t had the energy or time to do much with it. But I need to get back to it since my scheduled content is about to run out, and I need to try and remember what has happened since I last wrote a live post!

Just Shelved

Martyr! by Kaveh Akbar
A Life In Stitches by Rachael Herron (re-read)

I have not been reading much, but I did finish Martyr! (can’t say anything about it because BookTube Prize judging, but will share my thoughts next month) and more than one re-read of A Life In Stitches – I listened to it and then went back to the beginning and listened to some of it again. It was exactly what I was in the mood for – I love memoirs, but also I’m getting to that point in the year where my interests switch from outdoors and the garden to indoors and yarn crafts, so it’s perfect for right now. I really enjoyed it – who knows, maybe I’ll actually get around to reviewing it this time!

Currently  Reading

Grounding by Lulah Ellender
A Year in the Woods by Torbjørn Ekelund
A Still Life by Josie George
Clear by Carys Davies

Ex Libris by Anne Fadiman (re-read)

Still chipping away on a few, started Clear – my second-to-last reading for the BookTube Prize and decided to re-read Ex Libris since I recently got it as an audiobook and remember enjoying it. It’s short, but very enjoyable if you’re a book person!

Up Next

Wandering Stars by Tommy Orange

This the only firm choice on my TBR as I need to finish it before the end of them month when the BookTube Prize finals end. After this… who knows? I could go for some easy thrillers, more re-reads, something else about  yarn or crafting, another memoir… it’s all up for grabs!

I’m really struggling right now – back to school is such a huge amount of executive function usage with organising, getting back on schedule, dealing with increased dysregulation (mine and kiddo’s), more social interaction and all the focus required for about 3 hours a day of driving! So the last week really took it out of me. I spent all my spare time over the weekend sleeping due to ADHD burnout, and finding that the naps did not affect my ability to sleep like the dead for as long as I got through the night as well. Sure signs that I’m not just a little tired, this is burnout – a whole different beast. So I’m trying to allow myself grace and down time without guilt, just being okay with getting very little done and resting a lot, because I know if I don’t do it now I’m going to have a really hard time for much longer. Lessons I’m finally learning, but man it’s not easy to let myself do nothing!

Anyway, I hope you guys are all doing well, for those who have kiddos heading back to school that it’s going well for you and for them, and for everyone else that the change in seasons is a welcome shift and that you’re enjoying the last bit of outdoor time before the weather turns, if you’re in my hemisphere! Let me know if you’ve read any of these books, or if you’ve read any books in the last week or two that you’ve loved and want to talk about!

A weekly post that encourages bloggers to share what they have read in the past week, what they’re currently reading and books they’ve recently added to their TBRs. Originally started by Sheila at Book Journey, it is now hosted by Kathryn at The Book Date. I also link up with The Sunday Salon post each week hosted by Deb at Readerbuzz (and sometimes include some of her content prompts).
