WEDNESDAY BLOGGING CHALLENGE | WHAT I READ WHEN I’M NOT FEELING WELL

If I’m being totally honest, I am probably quite unlikely to read anything when I’m feeling ill. Usually that’s when I’m too tired and feeling too yucky to expend the energy needed to actually engage with the printed word. So instead of books, I turn to TV and movies, and I tend to re-watch ones that I know will make me feel safe and comforted.

If I were going to try and read, however, I’d pick something I’d read before and knew so I wouldn’t have to take in new plots and characters. When I was pregnant and feeling quite poorly I read the Agatha Raisin series, and it was exactly what I needed. Fast to read, formulaic but still interesting and didn’t require too much effort to get into. I’ll always have a soft spot for them thanks to that!

What about you guys? Do you read when you’re not feeling well? If so, what do you read?

Yes, most of my comfort reads are for when I’m just… mentally not all there. Physical illness is something else altogether, and frequently I just want to sleep it away.
