BOOK BLOGGER HOP | READING OUTSIDE MY USUAL GENRES

This week’s prompt: Have you ever ventured out of your preferred genres? If so, were you surprised you enjoyed the book?

I have been trying to do this more often, though I’m still avoiding genres like horror because I am too much of a marshmallow to be able to handle it! I have tried some light fantasy (Legends & Lattes, for example) and I did enjoy it a lot. I’ve also tried some romance books, and they had mixed success, but I didn’t hate them and there were a couple I liked well enough. And cosy mysteries were what got me through the second trimester when I was pregnant, though I’d never read one before, so I definitely enjoy them (the Agatha Raisin series was my favourite).

What about you guys? Have you ventured outside your comfort zone? What ended up happening?

The Book Blogger Hop is a weekly blog link-up that gives participants a different book-related question to ponder each week, and allows them to share their thoughts, find new blogs to follow and connect with new readers. The Hop was originally created by Jennifer at Crazy for Books and is now hosted by Billy at Ramblings of a Coffee Addicted Writer. To see a list of upcoming prompts go here.
